Architect and historian Steve Wiser will discuss Louisville's DuPont Family and their streetcar empire. Relocating from Wilmington, Delaware, in the 1850s to seek their fame and fortune on the western frontier, Fred and Biderman du Pont purchased a mule-pulled trolley car line that they transformed into a street railway network throughout the Midwest. Their innovative entrepreneurship would help save their family’s famous corporation and turn it into the global giant it is today.
