Bring the entire family to Old Louisville LIVE in Central Park on Saturday, September 24, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. for The Louisville Leopard Percussionists!

The Louisville Leopard Percussionists are a performing ensemble comprised of 60+ student musicians ages 7-14, who reside in 26 different Louisville zip codes and attend 48 different schools in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Led by award-winning schoolteacher, Diane Downs and her team of directors, Brittany Lee, Kelsey Lee, Meg Samples, Aaron Klausing; The Louisville Leopard Percussionists offer extracurricular music opportunities to local children at little or no cost. The youthful musicians perform a broad repertoire of classical, ragtime, jazz, Latin, and pop tunes while the students learn to improvise, compose, and arrange music. As performers, the students rotate among the instruments and become proficient on several. Students also have the opportunity to study percussion techniques and perform with professional artists. The Leopards have performed all over the U.S., including performances in Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Washington, DC. The Leopards have also performed with numerous professional musicians including Dave Samuels, Victor Mendoza, Joe Morello, Emil Richards, Ruben Alvarez, Jerry Steinhotlz, as well as the Louisville Bach Society and the Louisville Orchestra.

Old Louisville LIVE is a new performing arts series powered by the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council. All Old Louisville LIVE shows will take place at the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater in Central Park and are free and open to public. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Guests will also be able to purchase beer, wine and spirits during The Louisville Crashers’ concert on Friday night.
