The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau's annual Hometown Tourist Celebration, held in conjunction with National Travel & Tourism Week, is under way May 9-31, 2016.
In an effort to champion the power of travel and educate locals about everything there is to see and do in their own backyard, nearly 100 area attractions, hotels, restaurants and shops are offering discounts to anyone with a Kentucky or Indiana ID.
The festivities kick off May 10 at 11 a.m. at 4th Street Live! with a press conference featuring Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Karen Williams, President & CEO of the Louisville CVB. The merriment continues until 1:30 p.m. with an Attraction Showcase featuring food samples, discounts and more fun.
Other highlights of the 2016 Hometown Tourist Celebration include sidewalk sales at the Louisville Visitors Center (301 S. Fourth St.) on Tuesdays, May 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Discounts available on a variety of Louisville and Bourbon-themed swag.
