Area artists and organizations have been invited to share the stage with Lilith originals and revivals in celebration of our fifteen-year mission of lifting up unheard voices by exploring history and today through women’s perspectives.

Additional LFL contributions to UNHEARD [outloud] will be a revival of one of LFL’s first originally-devised work, Crossing Mountains; Defining Infinity, devised by Co-Artistic Director Trina Fischer in collaboration with other company members; and community-based workshops that will highlight LFL’s work with children and youth; with Spanish-speaking communities; and that will explore community-wide concerns. Fischer created the nugget of her work while at Northwestern University and is eager “to revisit and expand this provocative work about the spectrum of human sexuality.”

Looking for Lilith Theatre Company produces 
I’m Wearing My Own Clothes! by Nancy Gall-Clayton, 
the first script LFL has commissioned in its fifteen year history

LFL has commissioned a brand new script by Nancy Gall-Clayton, I’m Wearing My Own Clothes!, inspired by Mary Edwards Walker (1832-1919), a surgeon for the Union during the Civil War. Walker remains the only woman awarded the Medal of Honor. She earned her medical degree at 22, wore trousers at her wedding, in surgery, and everywhere else, finding corsets and hoop skirts impractical and unhygienic. She was arrested numerous times for “wearing men’s clothes.” She also advocated for voting rights for women and equality in marriage and the workplace. She lectured on both sides of the Atlantic and frequently lobbied in Washington, D.C., and Albany, New York. The story of Dr. Walker is one that LFL is excited to explore!

Resonant Light Theatre Project
Look Me in the Eye
Resonant Light Theater Project (Ben Gierhart and Kelsey Thompson) aims to create and/or produce theater that illuminates the human experience and amplifies unheard voices. Look Me in the Eye is their first piece and will serve as a sharp examination of the issue of consent that will be told in unexpected but nonetheless revelatory ways. A diverse ensemble will guide the audience through a variety of emotions by way of dramatic scenes, comedic skits and personal monologues.
