Join us for a double program Celebrating the Sounds of Kentucky
6 - 7 PM “The Listening Room: A Panel Discussion.”
A round-table discussion featuring music collector and Kentucky Music Heritage Foundation board member Doug Van Buren, ear x-tacy founder and operator John Timmons, Mom’s Music co-founder Marvin Maxwell, author and exhibit co-curator Michael L. Jones, and Mr. Wonderful Production Band lead singer Ron Lewis. Panelists will discuss and perform their favorite songs by Kentucky artists.
7:30 - 8:30 PM Poetry Is presents Kentucky Is: A Sound Experience.
"Kentucky Is" presents a night of improvisational music paired with local poets performing original works inspired by the "Celebrating the Sounds of Kentucky," the newest exhibition at the Frazier History Museum.
Join "Poetry Is: A Sound Experience," a local performance collective dedicated to the enrichment of Louisville’s literary and arts scenes as they perform unique poetry readings backed by the sounds of Kentuckiana music. Each poet in the collective will write and then perform a new, original work based on an element in the Kentucky Music exhibition that resonates with them.
