The Blessing of the Beer and the Tapping of the Keg has become a favorite tradition of the Hibernians and Goodwood Brewing Co. Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and their friends at Goodwood Brewing to celebrate the birthday of the Bourbon Barrel Stout, launched in 2006. A special ceremony will bless the beers at the brewery in preparation for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Parade.
For this event, everyone shows up around 5pm at Goodwood Brewing Taproom at 636 E. Main. A procession lead by a bagpiper, Father Fowler and the Hibernians will lead the way into the brewery. After a few words from the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Goodwood Brew Crew Father Fowler will bless all the batches of Bourbon Barrel Stout that have been patiently waiting for over three months while the beer aged in Kentucky’s finest Bourbon Barrels.
After the ceremonies at Goodwood Brewing Co the group will convene at O’Shea’s on Baxter for the Tapping of the Keg. (Approximately 6:30) The blessed keg will be marched into O’Shea’s; Father Fowler will lead us in prayer while the staff at O’Shea’s taps the first keg for consumption. Then the fun starts with Blessed Goodwood Bourbon Barrel Stout. Only available once a year at this time! Food specials of corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash and other special selections will be served in honor of the approaching St. Patrick's parade.
The Highland Reign will rock the house at 7 p.m. with progressive Celtic music that will surely get your toes tapping.
Hope to see you there so we'll have the chance to cheers with you.
