Have you ever wondered where you come from? For those curious about their family history, Genealogy Day at the Library is the perfect opportunity to explore your roots. This annual, all-day conference for beginning and experienced genealogists will offer a series of seminars from experts in the field, covering topics ranging from “The ABCs of DNA” to the documentation of Native American ancestry.
The event will kick-off with a lecture from keynote speaker James Klotter, State Historian of Kentucky, who will discuss “Kentucky Statehood: The role of our ancestors in the formation of a Commonwealth.” In addition to the variety of seminars offered throughout the day, the program features an opportunity for participants to have questions answered by the Genealogy Day Panel and explore the Library’s genealogy resources. The Main Library boasts an expansive Kentucky History and Genealogy collection of manuscripts, newspaper files, and rolls of microfilm, along with a variety of online resources to assist patrons in their genealogy requests.
