OF ITS 2015/16 BROWN-FORMAN CLASSICS SERIES SEASON

The Louisville Orchestra led by Music Director Emeritus, Jorge Mester, will present Four Last Songs as part of the 2015/16 Brown-Forman Classics Series at the Kentucky Center on Friday, October 9 at 8 p.m.. This performance opens with Brahms’ emotional, Tragic Overture. Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs, a meditation on life and death, will feature soprano, Kelley Nassief. Soprano Kelley Nassief joins the Louisville Orchestra for Four Last Songs. According to the Leipziger Volkszeitung, “If the angels in heaven really sing, please let them do it like Nassief. Jorge Mester has long been considered an ardent champion of contemporary music. Mester has given more than 70 world-premiere performances. During his 12-year tenure as Music Director of the Louisville Orchestra from 1957-1979, Mester made 72 world premiere recordings with the orchestra, a prolific achievement for both conductor and orchestra. Mester recalls, “It was an exciting challenge to find music deserving of a permanent record.
