Ever wonder what Cherokee Park is like after dark? Now's your chance to experience the park like never before on this family-friendly twilight hike led by Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy Education Program Manager Matt Spalding.
We'll journey through (mainly flat) natural trails through the woods on Bonnycastle Hill watching for fireflies and listening for nocturnal wildflife. 'Hoot' knows, we might even hear one of the Barred Owl families who call Cherokee Park home!
After the hike, enjoy s'mores and check out Jupiter, Saturn, (and their moons) from the Louisville Astronomical Society's telescopes in Bonnycastle Hill.
Tickets are FREE for Olmsted Parks Conservancy members and $8 for non-members (children under 13 may accompany a paid adult for free).
Children should be accompanied by an adult. Tour is rain or shine (but may be subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of severe weather). Weather-appropriate clothes and footwear with good tread are encouraged. Glow sticks will be provided for safety.
Make sure to reserve your spot on Eventbrite. Meet at 8:30pm at Hogan Fountain Pavilion (known as the "Teepee"). Tour ends by 10:00pm.
