Mona Cattan is the owner of Highlands Fiber and Folk Arts, located in Louisville, Kentucky. Mona has been weaving since she received her first potholder loom at the age of six. She continued weaving in Girl Scouts, cranking out sit-upons” for camping and campfires. At age twelve, Mona met and was influenced by Master Weaver, Lou Tate, founder of The Little Loomhouse in Louisville, Kentucky. Mona has been a weaving and spinning instructor and demonstrator for the Little Loomhouse since 1997. Mona loves to weave with her hand spun yarns which include exotic fibers such as chienegora and alpaca. She will be exhibiting and selling her beautiful, hand woven, hand made bags, and scarves.
Sylvia Kinsfather, a member of the The Little Loomhouse team, and former student to Mona Cattan, will wrap you in luxury. She will be exhibiting and selling her hand woven shawls. Each piece is hand woven on a triangle loom.
Come out to meet the artist and discuss their process on Saturday, September 12, from 11am-4pm. This event is free and open to the public. Light snacks will be served.
