Come out and support Family Scholar House as the nonprofit prepares to send 215 families back to school in August. Attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies for Family Scholar House’s Pack-a-Backpack drive. Attendees who donate school supplies will receive free refreshments. A portion of the evening’s proceeds from purchases will be donated by eyedia to Family Scholar House.

Each year, Family Scholar House hosts the Pack-a-Backpack drive and collects school supplies to ensure that all FSH students, both children and adults, are ready for the start of the school year. Items needed include: backpacks, folders, markers, crayons, glue sticks, small scissors, binders, pencils and pens, college and wide-ruled loose leaf paper, notebooks, composition notebooks, index cards, highlighters, pencil pouches or boxes, calculators, flash drives and Kleenex. FSH will be collecting school supplies throughout July at its main campus – 403 Reg Smith Circle, Louisville, KY 40208.

Family Scholar House is changing lives, families and communities through education. Our mission is to end the cycle of poverty and transform our community by empowering families and youth to succeed in education and achieve life-long self-sufficiency. Currently, 215 families with 319 children live on four Family Scholar House’s residential campuses. All of these families are low-income and have experienced homelessness or unstable housing. FSH parent scholars are full-time college students, pursuing post-secondary education, while being full time parents. The single-parent students of Family Scholar House are working day in and day out to achieve their goals, ultimately gain self-sufficiency and provide a better life for themselves and their children.
