Kentucky’s new poet laureate, Frederick Smock, comes to the Louisville Free Public Library on Tuesday, July 11. Smock is a Louisville native and a professor of English at Bellarmine University. His work is filled with keen observations about the creation of art, the intersection of poetry and peace, and the striking scenes of everyday life. The former editor of the international literary journal The American Voice, he has published ten books of poems and essays, and has two forthcoming collections: Book of Earthly Delights and On Poetry: Palm-of-the-Hand Essays.
