Dr. Jonathan Quick thinks that is about to change. In his book The End of Epidemics, he explains that there is a 50% chance of a global pandemic in most of our lifetimes and why infectious disease is a greater security threat to our country than any war. Still, Dr. Quick believes that within 10 years the world could easily be on its way to eradicating epidemics forever.

Dr. Jonathan D. Quick is Senior Fellow and former President and CEO at Management Sciences for Health in Boston, and a world expert on global health. He is on the faculty of the Department of Global Health at Harvard Medical School and the Boston University School of Public Health. He is Chair of the Global Health Council and has applied his global health expertise in more than seventy countries over four decades and counting.
