Our upcoming Sunday, March 8 event open to the public is a fascinating look back at the impact of the infamous 1890 Louisville tornado on our Tower & how we built back stronger than ever after this natural disaster. General admission is $5, $4 for seniors & $3 for military & Included with admission are the following:
• WaterWorks Museum — Located in Pumping Station No. 1, the museum highlights Louisville Water’s considerable archive of historic photographs (some dating back to 1860), films & memorabilia. The museum appeals to visitors of all ages, including children, with tower-building activities, a station where they can dress like Louisville Water Company employees, scavenger hunts & much more. Visitors will also discover Louisville Water’s story, which details how our groundbreaking research in water science & engineering has contributed to safe drinking water methods used throughout the world.
• Pumping Station No. 3 — Last fall our pumping station was opened for tours after an extensive two-year renovation. Visitors can study the 100-foot-tall restored steam pump & view see a film about its history.
• Guided Tours — Visitors will learn about the iconic Water Tower as well as participate in a tour of the grounds on the banks of the Ohio River.
