Colson Whitehead is the author of Zone One, The Intuitionist, and John Henry Day. In his newest book, The Underground Railroad, he has created a wrenching, thrilling journey through both time and space, chronicling a young slave’s desperate bid for freedom, and a heroine’s flight that serves as a powerful meditation on both history and the present day. Praising Colson Whitehead early in his career, John Updike wrote: “Whitehead’s writing does what writing should do; it refreshes our sense of the world.” The Underground Railroad will be released in September 2016.
