Running September 21 to October 1, 2017, the festival features a stunning array of international performers, including musicians and dancers from Venezuela, Cuba, Sweden, Québéc, Brasil, Spain and right here in Louisville. Funded in part by a prestigious ArtWorks grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the festival features special cross-cultural musical collaborations between international players and some of Louisville’s finest musicians, in a series emphasizing cross-cultural meetups and collaboration. Participating local artists include: Maiden Radio, Cosa Seria, Relic with Aaron Bibelhauser feat. Michael Cleveland, Appalatin, and Yapa, among others.
Pop-up events by artists and other presenters will happen at various businesses along Frankfort Avenue from September 23-28. Experiential activities and workshops for both children and adults will be offered during the three main event days (September 21, 29, and October 1) held at the Clifton Center, including: dance and music workshops, films, walk-up instrument lessons from Louisville Folk School, hands-on art projects, international food and after-parties.
