Breeders’ Cup Festival Jazz Explosion Featuring David Sanborn with special guest The Mike Hyman Trio
Larceny Bourbon and DEEP EDDY VODKA present David Sanborn with special guest The Mike Hyman Trio at The Bourbon Hall.
One of the most commercially successful American saxophonists for six decades and counting, Sanborn is described as “the most influential saxophonist on pop, R&B, and crossover players of the past 20 years.” Although a jazz musician at heart, Sanborn has transcended genres and musical boundaries throughout his entire career. He has played with Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, and Billy Joel, among others.
Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six Grammy Awards and has had eight gold albums and one platinum. He continues to be one of the most active musicians of his genre.
Michael Hyman has been performing, touring and recording for over 40 years. Some of the artists he has performed with are Joe Henderson, Stan Getz, Gary Burton, and Gerry Mulligan.
Tim Whalen plays the tenor saxophone and has performed with organist “Brother” Jack McDuff, Groove Holmes, and the Larry Elgart Orchestra, backing up artists such as Sammy Davis Jr., Rosemary Clooney, and Johnny Hartman.
Diego Lyra is a Brazilian pianist/organist/composer currently living in Louisville, Kentucky. He performs actively in the Louisville area with jazz community greats, including Jamey Aebersold, Dick Sisto, Mike Hyman, Tim Whalen, Tyrone Wheeler, Craig Wagner and Brandon Coleman.
A portion of the proceeds benefit Maryhurst.
