Get ready to roll up your sleeves and get your hands involved in our truly handmade process. This will be a chance for you to be involved in the actual making of Maker’s Mark, from helping in the Distillery to participating in the Tasting Panel, and even spending some time dipping bottle after bottle on our production line.
Report to work at our picturesque National-landmark Distillery in Loretto, Ky. You will be issued a uniform polo shirt to wear while you are here.
Start your morning with a warm welcome from two generations of the Samuels family who will share the founder’s vision for what became Maker’s Mark and why he decided to abandon the family’s legacy “blow-your-ears-off” whisky – T.W. Samuels.
Dive even deeper into the Samuels’ family history and their ties to the likes of Lem Motlow, Col. Sanders, Abraham Lincoln, and the James Gang. Head into our Distillery to meet our miller, learn about our mash bill, slow-cooking process, and see how we propagate our six-generation old yeast strain. Then see that yeast in action in our fermentation room, followed by the art of Distillation with our Master Distiller, Greg Davis. There will be some opportunity to get your hands dirty as you work alongside the makers of Maker’s. Perhaps you will to get to help drop grains, hop our yeast, or even drain a fermenter for Distillation.
Follow the white dog through the barrel aging process and gain understanding as to why we rotate our barrels. You’ll get the chance to taste through the stages of Maker’s and then put your palate to the test as you join our tasting panel and help us stay true to our founder’s vision and taste profile. Finishing off with a toast under The Spirit of the Maker, our Maker’s Mark inspired installation from glass artist, Dale Chihuly.
No visit to Maker’s Mark would be complete without getting the chance to dip your very own Maker’s Mark bottle. You’ll see our handmade labels coming off the press in the print shop, and then we will put you to the test on the Maker’s Mark bottling line and see if you can keep up! Finish up by dipping your own commemorative bottle for the event.
Now, we know that crafting our handmade bourbon is hard work, so your lunch break will be a relaxing experience overlooking our spring-fed lake with Chef Newman Miller of Harrison Smith House. The menu will draw heavily from locally-raised meats, fresh seasonal vegetables, and of course, have a hefty influence from your favorite red head.
So don’t delay, get your ticket to join the Maker’s Mark team today!
