Thursday, March 9th, the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Louisville will be kicking off St. Patrick’s Day festivities at Goodwood Brewing with the 12th annual Blessing of the Beer at the Goodwood Taproom followed by a tapping at O'Shea's Irish Pub. The Blessing and Tapping are like no other beer events you’ve ever attended, and this year, the favorite tradition of the Hibernians, Goodwood Brewing and O'Shea's Irish Pub, is going to be the best one yet!
The party will start at Goodwood Brewing at 4PM with live Irish Music by The Bold Roberts. At approximately 5:30-5:45 p.m.,
(on Irish time here), Father Fowler will be led by the AOH and bagpiper, John Eagels, throughout the brewery where Father Fowler will bless the Big Fella keg. This big boozy stout has spent an entire year in a bourbon barrel, and for the very first time, we are bottling a new special brew for the event-- Blessed Fella.
Blessed Fella is Big Fella’s bigger, boozier, imperial brother. The beer features an ABV of 12%, and will be a blended recipe of two different barrel-aged imperial stout varieties.
After Father Fowler blesses the beer and the bottles, the 500ml Blessed Fella bottles will be available for purchase in the Taproom, while the keg of Big Fella will be transported to O'Shea's Irish Pub for an epic tapping party! Once we arrive at O'Shea’s we will march the keg in behind the bagpiper and Father Fowler will lead us in prayer, there will be a few Irish blessings… then we drink!
