Called a ‘budding superstar’ and a ‘powerhouse performer’ by critics, violinist Tessa Lark grew up in Richmond, Kentucky, and now commands great respect with her abundant gifts. Her star was launched when she won the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2016; a predictor of greatness. Past Avery Fisher solo winners include Hilary Hahn, Joshua Bell, and Ursula Oppens. Joining her will be superb pianist Andrew Armstrong. Together they combine to provide an exceptional musical experience.
The program contains two remarkable pieces promising to make this a most memorable performance. Lark will play Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata No. 9, famous for its technical difficulty and emotional scope and a composition of her creation Appalachian Fantasy which has become a signature piece for honoring her Kentucky roots. Pieces by Stravinsky and Franck round out the program the November 4th program
