The Chamber Music Society of Louisville welcomes the Aviv Quartet for their March 19th performance at University of Louisville School of Music, Comstock Hall at 3:00PM. This widely acclaimed string quartet will perform works by Mozart, Shostakovich and Ravel. Cited by Tim Ashley of The Guardian he wrote of this ensemble: "Aviv String Quartet is rapidly emerging as one of today's finest chamber ensembles. Rich, warm and distinctive in sound, their playing combining technical exactitude with instinctive emotional intensity..."
Founded in 1997 in Israel, Aviv, meaning 'spring' in Hebrew, a signifier of new beginnings and the season of birth and fresh thinking encompasses the Aviv Quartet's artistic philosophy of stripping away artificial coverings "to reveal true nature, sharper definition and heightened awareness". The Aviv Quartet has performed previously in the U.S. in Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and The Library of Congress. The Aviv Quartet is making only two U.S. appearances on their current international tour schedule and Louisville is fortunate for their visit to Comstock Hall.
