Kicking off the Craig Buthod Author Series in 2017, the Louisville Free Public Library hosts acclaimed author Elliot Ackerman on Thursday, February 23. The author of the critically praised book Green on Blue, Ackerman comes to discuss his timely new novel, Dark at the Crossing, a contemporary love story set on the Turkish border with Syria.
Ackerman is an American writer and author based out of Istanbul, where he has covered the Syrian Civil War since 2013. His writings have appeared in the New Yorker, the Atlantic, and the New York Times Magazine, among others, and his stories have been included in The Best American Short Stories. He is both a former White House Fellow and Marine, and served five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan where he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for Valor, and the Purple Heart.
Elliot Ackerman will visit the LFPL on Thursday, February 23, 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library (301 York Street). This author visit is FREE and open to the public, but tickets are required.
