Join us mid-winter for a lively presentation of Celtic music. This special event is a collaboration with the Irish Arts Foundation of Kentucky.
The first hour opens with music from Na Skylark, a Kentucky-based duo featuring Lorinda Jones and Cathy Wilde. A fine opening for the evening, they perform Celtic music on Irish harp, penny whistle, mountain dulcimer, Uilleann pipes, guitar and more with passion and expertise. The Derby Boys fill out the hour with their rendering of spirited Irish music that conjures up a Dublin pub setting. Between these two acts our own Col. Bob serves up another vignette drawn from his life experience.
Our second hour comes on strong with the high energy of Lachlan, another local Celtic duo. The music that pours forth from these two lads, Matt Hill and Josh Bailey, is equivalent to a 4 piece ensemble and promises to have us dancing in the aisles. Following this rousing opener, the Ladies of Longford present their own special blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic music. They take the energy a notch higher for a riveting conclusion to another Kentucky Homefront evening.
Don’t forget to tune in Saturdays at 8:00 am on WFPK 91.9 fm and at 6:00 pm on Crescent Hill Radio, WCHQ 100.9.
