It is believed that Aaron Burr dined with Major Croghan at Locust Grove the year after his fateful duel with Alexander Hamilton. To celebrate Locust Grove's 2017 re-opening and Aaron Burr's 260th birthday (Feb .6 - 2 days following this event), Jason Hiner, Locust Grove first-person interpreter and history aficionado, will tell us about the Hamilton-Burr duel. It became a gruesome symbol of how bitter and partisan the political infighting had become among America's founders. This talk explores who Hamilton and Burr were, the different opinions they had about politics and politicians, and why their differences led to a duel that left Hamilton dead and turned America's Vice-President into an outlaw. General admission $5. Locust Grove member admission $3. We welcome Hamilton fans to come and talk about future Hamilton (and Burr) programs
