The WAVE 3 Abbey Road on the River, the world’s largest Beatles-inspired tribute festival, will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 21-25 at the Belvedere and Muhammad Ali Center. The line-up for this year's festival includes rock band The Orchestra, starring former members of ELO and ELO II – Louis Clark, Mik Kaminski, Eric Troyer, and Parthenon Huxley. ELO’s spectacular run of success in the ’70s and ’80s included numerous gold and platinum albums and Top Ten hits such as “Can’t Get It Out of My Head” and “Telephone Line.”
To commemorate John Lennon’s 75th birthday this year, festival organizers will present a series of events, John Lennon “75, celebrating the music and life of John. Julia Baird, Lennon’s sister and a director of Cavern City Tours in Liverpool, will attend this year’s festival and speak about her memories of John. Additionally, renowned tribute artist and Beatle historian Tim Piper will perform “Just Imagine,” backed by Working Class Hero. Piper intertwines John Lennon’s songs with the stories behind them to create a unique and electrifying multimedia concert experience in this critically acclaimed tribute.
On Memorial Day, May 25, to honor the 40th anniversary of one of rock’s greatest albums, Born To Run, Matt Ryan will perform the high-energy musical experience “Bruce in the USA,” a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band show.
In addition, more than 60 bands from around the world will perform on seven stages throughout the weekend.
WAVE 3 Abbey Road on the River is sponsored by the Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Crosley, Gretsch Guitar, Louisville Magazine, Louisville.com, the Muhammad Ali Center, Shock Top, Budweiser, The Galt House, WAKY 103.5, and 107.7 The Eagle.
