    Bit to Do

I don't know why more bars and dance clubs don't host exercise classes on the weeknights. Especially on Monday nights, when everyone's a little too run down from the previous weekend to go out to drink anyway. Enter: Buti Yoga at Play Louisville. This fun, exciting class is a way to sweat out some toxins, get your body moving, and make Monday your favorite day of the week.

I enjoy working out and trying to new exercise classes, so when I heard Dana McGowan was planning to teach a cardio-yoga at Play Dance Bar, (Buti is actually a blend of yoga, "tribal dance" cardio and plyometrics) I couldn't wait to give it a shot. I have to admit I thought it would be easy; cardio classes are usually my forte, and yoga just seems...relaxing. Boy, was I wrong. Buti pumped me up and made me dance. I'm not sure how many calories I burned during the 60-minute class, but I'm sure it was a lot.

The people in the class are incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere couldn't be more accepting, but let's be real about this: it's a hard exercise class. The first time I attended I ended up sweaty and exhausted, and the next day I was a little sore, but I felt super charged with energy and endorphins. It's for all fitness levels, and Dana teaches the basic moves at the beginning of each class, so there's no problem with jumping right in one week.

It's $10 (cash) to participate in Buti Yoga (at 6:30 p.m. on Monday nights at PLAY), and you have to sign a waiver. Make sure to  bring a yoga mat (a more padded one worked better for me), a towel if you need it (you will need it!) and plenty of water. Dana teaches a great class that will get your heart pumping and your legs moving, all to the pulsing rhythm and churning lights of Play's awesome dance floor. You can find out more here!
