International Women’s A Cappella Singing Contest
More than 50 women’s a cappella singing groups from the US and Canada will entertain audiences in contests and shows at the 2014 International Convention and Contests hosted by Harmony, Inc. More than 1,000 participants and fans will attend and celebrate excellence in barbershop singing throughout the three-day event. The public is invited to watch choruses and quartets compete, visit the hospitality room and displays of musical-related items, gifts and jewelry; and enjoy world-class barbershop entertainment at two championship shows.Events kick-off Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m., with the gala “Parade of Champions” show, featuring current and past gold medal winners including Village Vocal Chords, 19-time gold medalist chorus from Chicago, and Spot On, 2013 International Quartet Champions. Guest entertainers, Cardinal Rule, University of Louisville’s contemporary a cappella ensemble, will open the show.
