Ladies and gentlemen, it is another literary-filled weekend of authors, poets, and eccentrics of the written and spoken word at McQuixote Books and Coffee. Wordsmiths for the weekend come in many flavors and there is sure to be something for everyone.
First, tonight, January 9, Cincinnati author Katherine Wynter will be visiting in support of her new novel Blackout, which takes a new spin on the zombie trope, adapted for today’s technologically-overrun world. She will also be introducing another new release, Keeper Chronicles: Awakening. Wynter will be presenting her work at 7:00.
Return the following night, Saturday, January 10, for the second installment in the Portland Poetry Series: Voice. This month will feature four poets:
+Adriena Dame, author of The Moo: Stories and a Novella and publisher of the literary journals 94 Creations and Iris Brown Lit Mag.
+Eli Keel, who, along with poetry, writes plays and works as a freelance journalist.
+Christina Nicole Howard, author of The Poem Remains the Same and the upcoming Love : Death, as well as being involved in an initiative to support local youth, “Minimizing Violence Through Poetry and the Spoken Word.
+Brandon “B Shatter” Harrison, who has garnered a reputation as a “goofy slick-talking, face-making, picture-taking” slam poet.
The readings begin at 7:00, but those who are interested in signing up for one of three open mic slots should arrive early.
Finally, the weekend concludes on Sunday, January 11, at 2:00 with local author Atty Eve. She will be celebrating the release of Controlling Cosette, the second book in her My Beautiful Suicide series. Controlling Cosette tells the story of Cosette, who has survived her suicide and is now trying to leave behind Bonnie, her alter ego with a tendency towards murder. Naturally, things go awry.
