Immerse yourself in the Louisville Water Company’s fascinating 150-year history of innovation and public service. You’ll follow Louisville’s progress from a city so infamous for unsanitary water it was nicknamed the “Graveyard of the West,” to its receiving the award for “Best Tasting Tap Water in the Country” by the American Water Works Association. This interactive experience features video and memorabilia, including photographs, original architectural renderings and much more. So, come and see why Louisville’s greatest legacy may not be who runs in the Derby, but what runs out your tap.
Designed with field trips in mind, all school groups that visit the “Water Works” exhibit are invited to bring pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters to “drop in the bucket.” The Frazier Museum will collect this change to raise money for EDGE OUTREACH, a Louisville Water Company partner and international organization headquartered in Louisville. EDGE works to train, equip and mobilize people to provide sustainable water, sanitation and health and hygiene solutions throughout the world. Donations to the “Drop in the Bucket” campaign will purchase supplies and equipment for their work purifying water in places such as Haiti and India.
