The road trip movie is a time-honored tradition. And why not? All sorts of wacky shenanigans can happen when spending long hours in a car, traversing the country. I know from experience – I once took ten days and drove with a car-full of people from Louisville to San Francisco and back. We used an atlas as our guide and made it a rule to stop at any interesting-looking places along the way. In this way, we found the Cheese Store and a really creepy petting zoo where the grizzled proprietor angered a cage full of rattlesnakes for our amusement. We also got lost for two hours in the Rocky Mountains. Anything can happen on a road trip. Tempers run high. A hole appeared in the walls of a hotel room after one of our party got pissed off (for a pretty silly reason) and took a chair to it.
You know what else can happen? Everyone learns a little bit about life, love, friendship, and what it means to be yourself. Well, presumably. It didn't happen quite so treacly on our trip, but allow me to direct your attention to the film trailer following this article. The movie in question is Pieces of Easter
, starring Jefferson Moore (who also wrote and directed) and Christina Karis.
Karis stars as Alza, a young woman who is something of the black sheep in her family (the “prodigal daughter,” as she says), who is trying desperately to make it back home in time for Easter. Moore portrays Lincoln, a farmer who reluctantly agrees to give her a ride when her car breaks down. What follows is the aforementioned wacky shenanigans and valuable life lessons.
