Louisville is no stranger to writers sharing their talent. Our city’s cup overfloweth with the bounty of words, poetry and local voices lifting up their words to the ceiling for the pleasure of our eager ears. I would know, as I am making quite a nice a career seeking them out and writing about their writing. And while December and January may have been rather “lean months” for those on the prowl for some free and tasty literary tidbits, the Spring harvest is ripe for picking, my friends! The University of Louisville’s Anne and William Axton Reading Series kicks off tomorrow, starting another round of free, public literary events and master classes featuring a variety of distinguished writers. Come to the Belknap Campus tomorrow afternoon and visit with author Brian Christian for starters.

The author of the Wall Street Journal best-seller, The Most Human Human: What Talking with Computers Teach Us About What It Means to Be Alive, Brian Christian is a nationally accomplished writer with an eye on the sciences. With his acclaimed book translated into 10 languages and his thoughts voiced on the likes of “The Daily Show” and NPR’s “Radiolab”, Christian’s work has been featured numerous times in both literary and scientific journals, as well as in the The Atlantic, Wired and The Guardian. Exploring a blend of computer science and philosophy, Christian’s ideas about our electronic lives resonate with relevancy as more and more of us are perpetually “plugged in”.

Join in the discussion and hear Christian speak about his ideas tomorrow afternoon in the Bingham Poetry Room at U of L’s Ekstrom Library. Christian will read from his work beginning at 4:30pm and will follow up the next day leading a master class at 10am in Room 300 of the Bingham Humanities Building. Take out your earbuds for a short spell and listen to the insights of a true thinker of the digital age.

The University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus is located at 2301 S. Third Street

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
