Organizers of the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross (USGP) today announced that Toyota has signed on as Presenting Sponsor of the Papa John’s USGP Derby City Cup to be held October 27-28 in Louisville, Kentucky.
The U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross presented by Crank Brothers (USGP) is the Official National Cyclocross Team Selection Series of USA Cycling. Taking place at Champion’s Park, the USGP Papa John’s Derby City Cup presented by Toyota races will be the first and second stops of the six race national series. The event is supported by the three Kentuckiana Toyota Dealers -- Oxmoor, Toyota of Louisville and Greentree.

The Papa John’s Derby City Cup presented by Toyota will be the first ever UCI sanctioned cyclocross event in the state of Kentucky.
“Toyota is proud to present the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross Derby City Cup,” said Dennis Fante, General Manager of Toyota of Louisville. “We are excited to help bring a great week/files/storyimages/of community events and the best cyclocross racing in the country to Louisville.”
Designed by USGP Executive Director Bruce Fina and local 'cross guru Bob Bobrow, the race will take place on a course set up at Champion’s Park and will consist of fast straights, twisty turns, sand, several run-ups, a flyover, a fast finish and a challenging section dubbed the “Trail of Tears.”
“This is another great event coming to Louisville,” said GLSC Executive Director, Diane McGraw. “Cyclocross is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.”
The USGP kicks off October 27 – 28 in Louisville, Kentucky with the Papa John’s Derby City Cup presented by Toyota. The second stop will be the Mercer Cup presented by Knapp’s Cyclery in West Windsor, NJ on November 17-18. The series will then return to Portland, Oregon for the fourth consecutive year for the Toyota Stumptown Cup final races on December 1-2.
