The Toledo Mud Hens continued to stay hot offensively Thursday night and dominated their way to a 10-4 victory over the Louisville Bats before 7,521 fans.
It was another rough start for Louisville starter Andrew Brackman who managed to go just four innings giving up five runs on six hits. Brackman did not make it out of the first inning in his last start.
Toledo’s Brad Eldred went 1-for-4 with a homer and three runs batted in. Eldred has hit safely in all 14 games of the young season.
The Bats scored two runs in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Denis Phipps and an RBI single from Neftali Soto. Phipps added a two-run home run in the ninth inning.
The Bats fell to 5-10 on the season, which ties them with the Norfolk Tides for the second-worst record in the International League. Only Syracuse (3-11) is worse.
Toledo improved their IL West leading record to 9-5, one half game better than the Columbus Clippers.
The Mud Hens, who have won five straight, look to complete the sweep of the Bats Friday at 6:35. Toledo sends Casey Crosby (0-1, 9.00 ERA) against Louisville’s Brett Tomko (0-1, 3.86).
