    Bit to Do

The theme of Thunder of Louisville was announced last Wednesday morning in a press conference and on the Thunder Over Louisville Facebook. This years theme, dedicated to the shows 25th year anniversary, will be known as "Throwback Thunder".

The word “throwback” has become increasingly popular over the last year in digital trends on media platforms (throwback Thursday, #tbt) and I am especially excited to see what Thunder of Louisville has to surprise Louisvillians with this year in regards to a throwback of the past 25 years. For the next weeks following up to the event, the Thunder of Louisville Facebook page will update a #throwbackthunder every throwback Thursday.

The firework show will pay tribute to the past 25 years of Thunder of Louisville and is set for April 12th.

Thunder show producer Wayne Hettinger says “there will be a little something for everyone”.

The U.S Navy Blue Angels have already been confirmed for an appearance in the show for the first time since 2006. We can expect many appearances like this for the 25th anniversary celebration.

At the Wednesday morning news conference, President and CEO of the Kentucky Derby Festival Mike Berry said, "The soundtrack for this year's Thunder Over Louisville will feature a song from each of the previous shows and will pay tribute to the history of Thunder Over Louisville; hence, a 'Throwback Thunder.'"

Thunder marks the official start of the annual month long festival ending with Derby on May 3rd. For Louisville, this festival is like a national holiday and the announcement of Throwback Thunder is confirmation that preparations and anxiousness for this year’s festival is now appropriate.

Watch the countdown and get all your Derby Festival information on their website.
