The third annual Taste of 502 had foodies celebrating some of the best bites the city has to offer. Held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Taste of 502 — a benefit for YMCA Safe Place Services — featured samples of menu items from dozens of local restaurants and spirits from around the region.
New this year was the VIP Lounge sponsored by Yelp! VIP Guests were given early access to the event, special gift bags, private tastings and exclusive prize drawings. The Secrets of Louisville Chefs crew including Tim Laird was set up inside the lounge to share their foodie secrets and to interview local foodies. Emily Hagedorn, Yelp! Community Manager, said it's a great place to relax and digest your food. The VIP area was beautifully decorated with furniture by Eyedia.
Highlights of the night included the Tagalong Beignets from Roux. These beignets recently won the People Choice’s awards at the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana’s Desserts First, food competition. Other stand outs were the award winning meatballs from Chef Harold Baker of Gary’s on Spring and the ever delectable chocolates from Art Eatables.
The Taste of 502, 502 Restaurant Week and 502 Lunch Week help promote the local restaurant industry and demonstrate how Louisville has become a major player in the food scene.
502 Restaurant Week comes to a conclusion tomorrow, March 4. For a special three-course or four-course menu, the cost will either be $50.20 per couple or per person, depending on the restaurant. To view restaurant menus or make plans for tonight, click here.
