Calvin Borel won't be coming off the rail, at least early on, in Saturday's 135th Preakness Stakes.
That's because the jockey and Super Saver, the horse he won the 136th Kentucky Derby on, will start from the No. 8 position in the 12-horse field at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore as determined by this late afternoon's post position draw. The Todd Pletcher-trained WinStar Farm's horse is the early 5-2 favorite in the 1 3/16-mile second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown.
Meanwhile second choice Lookin at Lucky (3-1 odds) had better luck in the Preakness draw than in the Derby draw. Bob Baffert's horse got the No. 7 post today after struggling from the No. 1 post in the Derby. Another difference from the Derby will be Lookin At Lucky's jockey. Martin Garcia has replaced Garrett Gomez aboard the colt. Gomez has moved to D. Wayne Lukas' Dublin (10-1), who'll start from the No. 12 post.
Paddy O'Prado, the third-place finisher in the Derby, is the third choice (9-2) in the Preakness. He'll start from the No. 10 post.
Below is a quick look at the field as well as the early odds:
1. Aikenite 20-1.
2. Schoolyard Dreams 15-1
