Sunburst Studio inside the Pendleton Art Center in downtown Rising Sun, Ind. announces its grand opening. The event will take place during First Friday on Mar. 4, 2011 from 6-9pm.

Featuring Signatory Sketches by Lane and Photography by Kendal, Sunburst Studio is located at space 1B inside the Pendleton on 102 Main Street.

Drawing for most of his life, artist Lane Siekman is a Rising Sun attorney and the executive director of the Ohio County Economic Development Corporation. He is also an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College.

Siekman’s award-winning pen and inks depict local landmarks and historic scenes.  Exhibiting artwork since 2003, he also creates portraitures and “extended doodles” of court hearings.

Kendal R. Miller of Photography by Kendal is an award-winning photographer/writer whose work is part of the Indiana Artisan Program. Her fine art photography prints were juried in as part of the program last year with her note cards and postcards accepted in Jan. 2011. She also works in event, commercial/editorial photography and outdoor portraits.

Miller was awarded a year-long stipend provided with the support from the Historic Downtown Rising Sun Program, the Rising Sun Redevelopment Commission and the Rising Sun Regional Foundation. The stipend allowed her to obtain space within the Pendleton Art Center to showcase her work.

The artists will be on hand to meet with guests and talk about their work. Light refreshments will be served.  The event is free and open to the public.
