Join us for a “Stitch-In” to make baby caps for Save the Children’s Knit One, Save One campaign.
Knit One, Save One is a grassroots effort launched by Save the Children and the Warm Up America Foundation to help protect the 4 million newborns who die each year in the first month of life in the developing world.
Event participants will join knitters and crocheters around the USA in making a baby cap and writing a personal note to the next President urging him to lead the way to save millions of babies globally.
In early 2009, Save the Children will take the notes to the next President and discuss needed actions. The caps will be distributed to pregnant women and new moms and their babies in many countries, including Ethiopia, Mozambique and Afghanistan.
To download a Knit One, Save One Action Kit, go to www.savethechildren.org/knitonesaveone
Free patterns and yarn will be available, as well as special stations for tagging hats and letter writing. Volunteers will be on hand to help beginning crafters. Refreshments will be served.
Come craft for a few hours and help save a life!
