During spring break, we invite families to stop in to view the exhibit "Outta Sight! The Inner Vision of Two Blind Guys: Recent Works by C.J. Pressma and Keith Kleespies" and to make a texture painting. Visually impaired artists create visual art in many ways and one of them is by working with texture. We will have a variety of textured materials available (including sandpaper, yarn, beads, felt, fun foam, and 3D fabric paint) for you to create your own “painting” that can be experienced with your fingertips! This self-serve activity will be available in the foyer of the Carnegie Center during museum hours, 10 am-5:30 pm.
Families can also visit a temporary exhibit on Mary Ingalls in the Center's lower level. Mary was made famous through her sister Laura’s series of “Little House” books and the NBC television series from 1974-82. Mary lost her sight at the age of 14, and went on to college at the Iowa College for the Blind and became a writer like her sister. Find out more at www.carnegiecenter.org or (812) 944-7336.
