“I believe in the value of preserving and promoting the
unique art signature that Kentucky craftsmen give to the art world.”

What does art do for you?
Art for me makes the world more beautiful, of course, but it can also express the
heritage of a place, it can be inspirational or informative in many special ways.

What is the Bourbon Ball all about?
The Bourbon Ball is about the coming together of a broad cross section of the
community in support of a great cause and effort. Because of this event, many artists
have built careers, many children from a variety of backgrounds have been exposed to
the “best in class” art education, many Kentuckians have developed a better
appreciation for the beauty that is created in their own backyard, and the art world has
been made aware of the value of the works being created in the hills of Kentucky. The
Bourbon Ball is a stellar example of business, artists, collectors and people who love art
joining forces to support one of the more interesting art institutions in our city.

How much money does it raise?
The Bourbon Ball raises about $400,000 every year. This money is used to cover the
entire operating budget for the year, so it is of vital importance to KMAC’s bottom line.
Also, with our children’s education programs, this money allows us to offer a variety of
classes working in conjunction with the public schools curriculum to fill in the gaps of
    public education.

What other local projects have you been involved in?
I am also on the board of regents for Farmington Historic Home. In that role I have
helped with the Garden Party, their primary fund raising event, and the Plant Sale. I help
the Kentucky Opera with their Carnevale event. I also am trying to help Habitat for
Humanity with a dinner and concert event.
