Cincinnati, OH – Society is reluctant to see Valentine’s Day for what it truly has become: a commercial holiday, filled with chocolates, Teddy Bears, diamonds and gifts. This is reinforced by the statistics that Americans sp/files/storyimages/over $2 billion on Valentine’s Day in efforts to please their significant other. Yet, like the cliche “you can’t buy love,” these tangible gifts do not satisfy innate desires for romance and communication.

It is fascinating to observe how much money is spent, and often wasted, trying to satisfy the human desire for a healthy sensual and sexually intimate relationship," said Clinical Psychologist, Michelle G. Dolnick, Ph.D.  "Historically, we live in a society that is plagued by myths and illusions about sex.  What is most often ignored is the fact that sex is a natural and irreplaceable need for humans.”

According to USA Today, forty million Americans are hindered in their relationships by low or no sex marriages, and even more startling is the estimate recently released from the National Center for Health Statistics that 50 percent of marriages in the U.S. /files/storyimages/in divorce due to sexual incompatibility.

Over the years I have seen a dramatic increase in the number of women coming forward for help," said Dr. Dolnick.  "Until recently, no one has been available to combat the negative connotations associated with the every day woman's sexual desire.  Fortunately, there are now companies such as Pure Romance that have made significant strides toward offering solutions to these problems rather than solely emphasizing expensive gifts or placebos.  From their products designed to help women to explore and expand their sexuality, to new additions such as the website, they have truly advanced the effort towards helping women and couples put the spark back into their romantic lives.”

In 1993, Brisben first broke through the male-dominated arena of sexually oriented businesses, when she opened Pure Romance (formerly known as Slumber Parties Inc.), run by women, for women.  As the company continued to grow, it moved into research and development of new products and in-home communication platform.  Today, Pure Romance welcomes millions of women nationwide to over 450,000 in-home parties; the company is poised to offer women solutions to sexual dysfunction, boredom in the bedroom, as well as the camaraderie of a girlfri/files/storyimages/network.

“I initially founded the company to create an environment where women could become financially independent and still be involved with their families,” said Patty Brisben, President and CEO of Pure Romance Inc.  “However, over the years, our Consultants and customers have formed unique bonds, and as a result founded a girlfri/files/storyimages/network that has allowed them to disclose the most intimate details of their lives.”

Combined with the current inclusion of sex therapists and clinical psychologists, Pure Romance is in the early stages of working closely with a national renowned research institution that will be exploring the positive effects of companies who focus on relationship enhancement.

Although it is no longer taboo for women to discuss such issues, there is still headway to be made.  Valentine’s Day, while commercialized by the retail industry, should essentially be a reminder to work for that spark in the relationship 365 days a year.  As women and couples continue to make strides in proactively improving their self-esteem and in turn relationships, society will once again learn to rekindle romance independently rather than looking for permanent materialistic solutions.

“We encourage all of you to use February 14th as the starting point to placing a healthy amount of effort into your relationship,” said Brisben.  “There are resources out there which, at first, may seem unconventional but will definitely re-ignite the passion in your life, without devastating your finances.”

Servicing millions in just over 10 years, Pure Romance is the fastest growing woman-to-woman, multi-level marketing company - expanding at an annual growth rate of 67% over the past four consecutive years.  Specializing in lighthearted and informative in-home parties, Pure Romance gives women over the age of 18 the opportunity to achieve financial and emotional independence.  For more information regarding Pure Romance, please visit ://www.pureromance.com/ or contact the corporate office, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at 866-ROMANCE.
