He has returned!
The crew at Young, Dumb, and Full of Comedy have resurrected their favorite (and original) target for this holiday season. The Roast of Jesus is coming back to The Bard’s Town.
The show opened last weekend, and this Friday (December 19th) and Saturday (December 20th) nights will be your last opportunity to see these guys come out and some fun with Christ. Following their usual format, the dais will be packed with your favorite characters from biblical text – as they come together to poke fun at the one guy that brought them all together in the first place…Jesus of Nazareth.
The first roast show these guys ever did was roasting Jesus, an idea hatched by friends and comedians Will Hardesty and Raanan Hershberg in December of 2011. The show has grown, developed, and matured so much since the first show, the performers couldn’t help but bring it back and do it better with everything they’ve learned in the intervening three years.
One of the major differences you’ll see this time compared to three years ago, is that the dais will be made entirely of recognizable characters from the Bible (and pop culture), instead of originally there were only two characters and it was just comics roasting. They have also over the years worked hard to weed out inside jokes that were only funny to the comedians that knew each other on a personal level. It was a show that they were originally doing because the comedians thought it would just be a fun thing to do, has matured to be a thoughtful deliberate show (that’s guaranteed to offend) and takes the audience into consideration, which is largely why The Roasts have continually grown with them over the years.
The Roast of Jesus, December 19th-20th at The Bard’s Town. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of show. All performances begin at 10 PM.
