Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher says he'll ask the legislature to approve $500 million in bonds to finance roads and the Louisville bridges projects.
After a speech to a transportation group Thursday in Frankfort, Fletcher said $350 million of the total would be state financed and the remainder would be paid for with federal funds.
Fletcher says his administration recently released $33 million for county and municipal road maintenance.
Governor Fletcher says there's no public support nor General Assembly support for an increase in the gas tax.
The last motor fuels usage fee hike was a nickel in 1986.Read more at wfpl.org
