It's that time of the year again when everyone looks for any excuse to get outside and enjoy the warm weather. Thanks to River City Canoe & Kayak owners Doug & Jessa Davis, Louisvillians now have another option to explore their inner adventurer and get outside in the water!
The pair moved to Louisville from New York city two years ago after falling in love with what the city of Louisville, and specifically the Highlands, had do offer. Their dream of operating a store representing their love of paddle sports and the outdoors came true earlier this month as they opened their store at 814 Cherokee Road in the Highlands.
In talking with owner Doug Davis, the excitement for kayaking and canoeing is evident in his every answer. He tells us "Paddling can be whatever anyone wants to make out of it! It's a great low impact aerobic exercise. It's a day of exploration and fun with friends or family on a lake or slow moving river. It's also a day of excitement and challenges on some of the area's whitewater rivers. There is something for everyone and for all abilities with paddle sports!"

For anyone new to the activity, they also offer classes and knowledgable staff to answer any questions. Mr. Davis explains "We are not just a full service retail location for all your paddle sports needs, but also a fully certified instructional facility with American Canoe Association instructors who can show you how easy it is to get started in paddling and teach you the skills necessary to start having fun right from day one!"
