Is there a connection between mental illness and creative genius? Distinguished psychiatrist and virtuoso concert pianist Dr. Richard Kogan explores this question through an examination of the life and works of the great Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who grappled with depression, suicidal thoughts, alcoholism, and phobias while composing such masterpieces as
the Nutcracker, the 1812 Overture, and the Pathétique Symphony. Dr. Kogan will illuminate the discussion with piano performances of some of Tchaikovsky's most glorious music.
