In conjunction with Greater Louisville Inc., the Metro Chamber of Commerce, a ribbon cutting ceremony to herald the opening of Habitation will be held at 12:00 noon this Thursday, December 4, at 4288 Summit Plaza Drive, The Summit Louisville.
In the midst of an economic downturn, launching a new local business, not to mention one that will expand to select markets next year, might seem a bit unusual at the very least. But not for the creators and owners of Habitation. “Louisville is a great environment for a new business because of the diversity of the consumer, as well as their consistent spending patterns within our category,” states Habitation co-founder David Mount. “We believe that Habitation will not only give the local consumer something very unique in the home furnishings category, we also feel a responsibility to do our part right now to encourage the regional economy.”
“Louisville was hands-down the obvious choice for us to launch Habitation because of the unique potential for a contemporary concept such as ours,” states Mr. Mount, whose career has been devoted to interior design and the retail sector of home furnishings and accessories. “By showcasing a product mix that covers all price points, with an emphasis on the affordable, we’re creating a unique niche for the home furnishings sector that will address the shopping habits and needs of the modern consumer. We know the Louisville consumer is ready for us.”
And to date, despite having been open just ten days, Black Friday weekend indicates that consumers are reacting strongly in favor of the Habitation concept. “Store traffic was very, very good. Sales were quite strong and exceeded our expectations for the weekend,” states Mount.
