Hooray for Hollywood! On Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 8pm the Louisville Orchestra kicks off the 2010-11 Pops series at Whitney Hall with the LOS ANGELES concert featuring Oscar® winner Randy Newman. Newman brings Tinseltown to Louisville through his movie and pop standards. From compositions for the animated Toy Story 3 to the slapstick The Three Amigos, his knack for storytelling has made him Hollywood’s favorite tunesmith.
Subscriptions for the Louisville Orchestra Pops series range from $148-$385 and are available by calling 502-587-8681 or visit LouisvilleOrchestra.org. Single tickets (on sale August 2) range from $30-$72. For more information call 502-584-7777 or go online to LouisvilleOrchestra.org.
Randy Newman, guest artist
In addition to being one of our greatest American singer-songwriters and film composers, Newman long ago established himself among our sharpest and most caustic wits. Some of Newman’s film compositions include: The Princess and the Frog, Bugs Life, Overboard, Seabiscuit, Monsters Inc., Meet the Parents and The Natural. Read his full bio at LouisvilleOrchestra.org.
Bob Bernhardt, conductor
Louisville Orchestra Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt continues to bring his unique combination of easy style, infectious enthusiasm and wonderful musicianship to the city and orchestra he loves. In 1981, he accepted the post of Assistant Conductor and has worked with the Louisville Orchestra in every season since. Read his full bio at LouisvilleOrchestra.org.
