A holiday tradition at the historic Presentation Academy will be renewed on Sunday, Dec. 5 as the downtown Louisville school welcomes students, alumnae and the entire Louisville community to its annual “Light Up The Tower” celebration. This year’s event will take place in the new Presentation Academy Arts & Athletic Center located at 900 South Fourth Street.
The highlight of the celebration, which is scheduled from 2-7 p.m. (all times EST), will be the illumination of Christmas lights that adorn the school’s tower and building. The Presentation Academy tower has been a fixture in the downtown Louisville skyline since the building that is the home of Louisville’s oldest continuously operating high school was completed in 1893.
The lighting of the tower is scheduled for approximately 6:45 p.m. The “Light Up The Tower” celebration will also include arts and crafts booths, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, performances by Pres carolers, crafts and caroling for children, a sweet shop, a silent auction (auction closes at 6:30 p.m.), and a light supper will be available for purchase. In addition Pres merchandise will be available for purchase.
Proceeds from the “Light Up The Tower” celebration benefit projects funded by the Presentation Academy Alumnae Association, which includes building improvements and student financial assistance.
