Pre-School Educators In-Service Training
Spiritual and Inspirational Experiences of Childhood
13th Annual Festival of Faiths
The Undercroft of the Cathedral of the Assumption
433 South Fifth Street
Free but reservations required. Space is limited. CEUs available.
Join early childhood educational pioneer Gloria Needlman, Ed.D. in this program designed to support pre-school educators seeking to integrate and support spirituality in their teachings and classrooms. This session is inspired by child psychologist Dr. Edward Hoffman’s research on childhood spiritual memories as chronicled in his book, Visions of Innocence: Spiritual and Inspirational Experiences of Childhood. His research confirms that reconnecting with these peak childhood experiences can be vital to the process of emotional healing, recovery and general well being. Participants will explore methods for fostering and reinforcing these peak experiences within our daily lives and within a pre-school environment.
Contact The Center for Interfaith Relations at 502-583-3100 to make reservations.
In this spotlighted Festival of Faiths event, author Stephen Prothero will explore religious literacy — the problem, the past, and proposals for a hopeful future. We will look at such questions as: What will young people need to know about Christianity and other world religions as the 21st century unfolds?; and What are the ways we can deliver the information and develop the skills our youth will need to be both US and world citizens?
