Come join us and learn how to transform a landscape photo or postcard
into a wall quilt made of silk specifically dyed to capture the exact
colors, shades, and nuances of your landscape. Students will master the
skills of simplifying the design, preparing the pattern and templates,
painting the silk with fiber-active dyes. Mary Nehring will show
students easy and timesaving techniques for sewing the creation together
into a lasting memory anyone would be proud of. For the purposes of
this class the subject matter is limited only to landscapes. Mary
Nehring's landscape quilts are in the collection of Morehead State
University and private collections in the Lexington area and has been
exhibited in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom. She has a BFA
from the University of Kentucky with an emphasis in textiles. Come
prepared for a workshop of creative fun.
